Dr. Rasheed Ahmad ( I.R Expert):  If we look at the relations of Pakistan with the smaller countries including Nepal and Sri Lanka to which Pakistan has cultivated robust relations. Pakistan contributed to the efforts of Sri Lanka in overcoming the Tamil insurgency. Both the countries have great scope in the field of trade, security and defense cooperation. In Pakistan there are some sites that attract a great number of Sri Lankan tourists to Pakistan. Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka have a common approach towards countering the hegemonic designs by a country in the South-Asian region. Moreover, both these countries have effectively advocated the idea of a nuclear-free zone in the South Asian region.
