In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian forces, in their unabated acts of state terrorism, martyred 26 Kashmiris during the first nine months of the current year.
According to Kashmir Media Service, data compiled by its Research Section shows that Indian Army, Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force, Special Operations Group and agencies including Counter Intelligence Kashmir, National Investigation Agency and State Investigation Agency arrested 4,738 civilians during 1,903 cordon and search operations and house raids.
At least 52 civilians were injured, while 293 properties of Kashmiris were seized during the period.
In September alone, five Kashmiris were martyred in fake encounters and extrajudicial killings, while 34 civilians were arrested.
Meanwhile, authorities in IIOJK are introducing a new media policy aimed at further restricting space for independent journalism and freedom of expression in the territory. Under the new policy, cases can be registered against journalists and media platforms under draconian laws.
