Heavy rain, flooding expected in KP, Punjab

National Emergencies Operations Center of NDMA has anticipated more rain-wind and thundershower in most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab from tonight till Wednesday.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rains may increase flow in local nullahs and streams of Galliyat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Nowshera and Swabi.

Downpour may cause urban flooding in low lying areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Chakwal, Nowshera and Peshawar.

In hilly areas of Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur low to medium level flash flooding is expected.

NDMA has urged all Provincial Disaster Management Authorities to take necessary precautions to mitigate the potential impacts of flooding and heavy rains.

It has also directed all relevant departments to alert emergency response teams to ensure swift response to any arising situations.
