The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has denounced escalation of tensions in the Middle East, especially between Iran and Israel.

On the social media platform X, he urged for immediate ceasefire and de-escalation of tension in region.

The UN chief said that sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon must be respected.

He stressed that civilians must be protected along with their infrastructure under international law.
