November 02, 2026

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has directed authorities concerned to formulate a comprehensive strategy to transform PTV Academy into a modern training center for equipping the young people with professional skills in film, drama and digital content production.

He issued these directives while chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad today to review plans for the revival of PTV Academy.

Secretary Information and Broadcasting Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil and senior officials of the Ministry of Information attended the meeting.

Attaullah Tarar said the revival of PTV Drama and Film Academy and revamping of PTV Home are part of the government's commitment to promoting the media and creative industries.

He said a programme to provide advanced colour-grading training is being launched for the first time in Pakistan. He further said that earlier, people had to travel abroad to acquire training and modern facilities in this field.

The Information Minister said the availability of colour-grading facilities in Pakistan would provide the film industry and private sector with access to modern technical training and facilities, while helping to improve the quality of local filmmaking.

He said a transparent and practical pilot project would be launched in collaboration with the private sector to align training programmes with industry's requirements.

Attaullah Tarar instructed to take all necessary measures to make PTV Academy a fully functional and effective training institution in line with modern age requirements.

He said imparting practical skills to young people in film, drama, editing, colour grading and digital content production is among the government's priorities.

He further said that students would be imparted training in a professional environment through modern editing suites, studio labs and technical equipment.

He said the training programmes would focus on practical work, project development and portfolio preparation alongside giving theoretical education.

The Information Minister said young people's creative projects would be encouraged for PTV News, PTV Home and Pakistan Television.

He said these initiatives would help provide Pakistan's film and drama industry with modern technical skills, a trained workforce and locally available facilities.

Attaullah Tarar said efforts would also be made to transform PTV Academy into a financially sustainable institution alongside its development as an effective training center.

The meeting reviewed various models for the revival of PTV Drama and Film Academy, including training programmes, modern technical facilities and hands-on training to support the revamping of PTV Home.

During the meeting, different training models for restoration of PTV Drama and Film Academy were presented in collaboration with the private sector. These models aim to provide practical training to young people while generating new sources of revenue for PTV.

The meeting also reviewed matters related to the establishment of modern classrooms and studio labs, installation of workstations for students, appointment of technical staff and trainers, and preparation of the course content.
