China says it is ready to work with Malaysia and other Southeast Asian nations to speed up consultation for a South China Sea code of conduct.

Talking to his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim in Beijing, Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang said his country will collaborate with regional countries to jointly maintain peace and stability in the area.

Speaking on the occasion, Anwar Ibrahim said Chinese leadership has agreed to boost trade relations with Malaysia under the Belt and Road Initiative.
