The United Nations has warned that Afghanistan faces the largest humanitarian crisis in today's world and called for more funding for the UN humanitarian response plan.
Addressing a news conference in Doha after a two-day meeting of special envoys on Afghanistan, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized that the meeting was about developing a common international approach, not recognition of the Taliban government.
He warned that the UN's Humanitarian Response Plan, which seeks 4.6 billion US dollars in funding, has only received 294 million dollars, with a 94-percent shortfall.
