President Dr Arif Alvi has expressed the hope that the ongoing talks between the ruling coalition and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf would bring in some positive outcome.
In an interview with a private television channel, he said there is a trust deficit among politicians, urging them to adopt the characteristic of forgiveness to improve the situation.
The President said Constitution is supreme and there is no room for indulging in the debate as to who is more powerful of the Parliament or court. He said the Constitution cannot be sidetracked by any means.
He said if politicians create mutual understanding and the judiciary remains steadfast, no one can breach the Constitution.
Replying to a question, Dr Arif Alvi said the powers of Article 58 (2B) should not rest with the President as the Parliament is elected by the people.
