In India, at least two hundred and eighty-eight passengers have been killed and near nine hundred injured in a multiple train collision in Odisha state.
According to a spokesperson for the Indian Railways, the incident occurred after one passenger train is thought to have derailed before being struck by another on the adjacent track.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have labelled the incident deeply agonising.
A day of mourning has been announced in the state.
