In Afghanistan, innocent civilians are facing deadly threats from landmines.

According to the latest report released by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) an average of fifty people are killed or injured every month in Afghanistan due to landmines.

Between January and May, 175 people were reportedly killed or injured, with seventy five percent of the victims being children.

Afghanistan ranks third globally in terms of deaths and injuries caused by landmines and explosive material.
