Finance Minister, British envoy discuss bilateral cooperation

Pakistan and United Kingdom have reiterated the commitment to boost long historic ties between two countries in multi sectors.

The commitment was made during a meeting between Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ms. Jane Marriott CMG OBE, who called on him in Islamabad on Thursday.

Finance Minister extended warm welcome and full support to newly appointed United Kingdom's High Commissioner.

They discussed current macro-economic situation of world as well as Pakistan.

Finance Minister underscored the need to boost ties between two countries.

He urged to discuss avenues available for both countries to expand these relations further for mutual gains of two sides.

He also apprised the United Kingdom's High Commissioner of overall economic outlook of the country and challenges faced by outgoing government during its tenure.

He also shared the measures and policy decisions taken by government to overcome those challenges that resulted in putting economy of the country on stability leading to a positive trajectory.

Speaking on the occasion, the British High Commissioner reciprocated sentiments about long-standing relations between the two countries and expressed desire of British authorities to further foster bilateral relations with Pakistan in various fields.
