August 03, 2023

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has inaugurated the Machine Readable Passport System at the Pakistani Embassy in Baghdad.

Under this initiative, around 25000 Pakistanis living in Iraq will be able to benefit from this facility.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said provision of every possible facility to overseas Pakistanis is our government's top priority.

He said under this facility, Pakistani citizens and pilgrims residing in Iraq will now be able to obtain machine-readable passports of five and ten-year validity.

Earlier, manual passports were issued to Pakistanis living in Iraq only for one year, due to which the Pakistani community had to face many problems.

The facility will enable Pakistani community to get Iqama, visa and employment opportunity in easier way.

Additionally, through this system, the Pakistani embassy will also be able to verify the data of Pakistani citizens online.
