The United States says Pakistan is its important partner and both countries have benefitted from the bilateral cooperation.

These remarks were made by US State Department spokesperson, Heather Nauert at a briefing a day after President Trump's remarks against Pakistan in a tweet that evoke strong reaction from Pakistani government.

The spokesperson said both countries try to work carefully together on the regional issues.

To a question about Pakistan's help in rescuing the Canadian-American couple from Taliban captivity, he said the US government was pleased with the cooperation by Pakistan.
