Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States Aizaz Chaudhry says Pakistan is a sovereign state and hostile statements against it by the US leadership would not help achieve the goals in war against terrorism. 

In an interview, he however said it is imperative to maintain relations with the United States.

The ambassador said both the countries have expectations from each other and they should maintain good relations for achieving the targets against terrorism.

He said Pakistan has achieved unprecedented success in the war against terrorism.

Commenting on the Afghan issue, he stressed the need for a political solution to it.
