The 32nd death anniversary of renowned poet and lyricist Tufail Hoshiarpuri was observed on Saturday.
His real name was Mohammad Tufail. He was born on July 14, 1914 in Hoshiarpur, British India.
Tufail Hoshiarpuri was an activist in Pakistan Movement and read patriotic poems in Muslim League’s gatherings.
After partition, he migrated to Lahore and joined Radio Pakistan Lahore in 1952.
His famous patriotic song was ‘Ai Mard e Mujahid Jaag Zara’. He also wrote songs for numerous Urdu and Punjabi films.
He was awarded Pride of Performance.
Tufail Hoshiarpuri died on this day in 1993.
