Kashmir Solidarity Day to be observed on Wednesday

Kashmir Solidarity Day will be observed on Wednesday to express the whole-hearted support of Pakistani nation to the just struggle of Kashmiri people for their inalienable right to self-determination under the UN resolutions.   

The day is marked to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri people and to draw the attention of the international community to the Indian atrocities in the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In connection with the day, solidarity walks will be organized across the country and Azad Kashmir.  In Islamabad, a rally will be held on the Constitution Avenue.

Sirens will be blown and one minute silence will observed at ten am to pay homage to the martyrs of Kashmir.

Posters and billboards have been displayed around important Avenues, airports, and railway stations to highlight the plight of Kashmiri people and expose Indian atrocities.

In Muzaffarabad, the Special Session of AJK Legislative Assembly will be held to express solidarity with the oppressed people of the Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir who are enduring Indian atrocities for the past seven decades.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to address the session.

Human Chains will also be formed at Mangla, Kohala, Bararkot, Azad Pattan, and Holar linking Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.

In Mirpur, a function in this connection will be held at Mangla Bridge at half past nine tomorrow.

Pakistani and Kashmiri people make a human chain on the bridge to express solidarity with each other.

Similar Functions will also be held in Kotli and Bhimber districts.

Meanwhile, the government has declared 5th February falling tomorrow as public holiday throughout the country on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day.

A notification to this effect was issued by the Cabinet Division in Islamabad on Tuesday.
