Finland is officially joining NATO as 31st member of the alliance on Tuesday.

Addressing a news conference in Brussels, NATO's Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed the joining and hoped the step will make Finland safer and the alliance stronger.

Alarmed by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last year, Finland applied to join NATO in May last year.
