In India, at least seven people were killed when an avalanche hit a convey of tourists in Sikkim state today.

According to Indian army, five to six vehicles carrying up to 30 tourists on the way to a mountain pass between Sikkim and the Chinese region of Tibet.

Rescue officials earlier said they feared at least 70 people were under the snow.
