The United Nations says the worst drought in Ethiopia is pushing twenty million people towards starvation.

The UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs estimated that up to 6.5 million people in Ethiopia are already severely food insecure due to the drought.

It said the drought is destroying an age-old way of life and leaving many children suffering from severe malnutrition.

The UN Office said many of the people have lost their animals due to the drought across the whole swathes of southern Ethiopia and in neighbouring Kenya and Somalia.
