Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul Haq Kakar has said that government expenditures can be reduced and the efficiency of projects can be improved by promoting Public-Private Partnership.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting on Public-Private Partnership in Islamabad today.
The Prime Minister stressed that Public-Private Partnership needs to be further promoted in construction of Motorways and Highways.
The Prime Minister directed the authorities concerned to finalize a comprehensive plan regarding East-West connectivity to give better access to the western parts of the country. He said infrastructural development improves connectivity, which will strengthen national unity.
The meeting was informed that under Public-Private Partnership, projects worth 646 billion rupees, were initiated in the past two years while 150 billion rupees were saved through approved Public Private Partnership projects.
It was apprised that outsourcing of Sialkot-Kharian Motorway, Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway, Kharian-Rawalpindi Motorway, Karachi Circular Railways and Islamabad International Airport are among the top most projects of Public Private Partnership Authority.
It was also shared in the meeting that Public Private Partnership Authority is working on awareness raising, training programs and capacity building regarding government and private sector partnerships.
Caretaker Planning Minister Sami Saeed, Advisor to the PM Ahad cheema, deputy chairman of Planning Commission Muhammad Jehanzeb Khan and other related officials participated in the meeting.
