Eighty-seventh death anniversary of Sahibzada Sir Abdul Qayyum Khan is being observed today.
He was born in Topi, Swabi in 1863. He was a distinguished educationist and politician from a notable family.
He is known for establishing Islamia College, Peshawar on the mould of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan's policy of educating Muslims.
Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Khan started his career as a civil servant but he eventually turned into a great educationist and respected politician. Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum became the first Chief Minister of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in 1937.
