Cabinet Committee on Essential Crops has emphasized the importance of harmonizing the federal and provincial agricultural research system to enhance per-acre yield.

This was expressed at the meeting of the committee in Islamabad today held under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, briefed the committee on the cultivated area for the current year.

Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of consultation with provincial governments to make pro-farmers' policies.

The meeting also deliberated on determining the wheat support price and possible government interventions in the market to secure fair prices for farmers and maintain market stability.
