Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has written a letter to the OIC Secretary-General on the alarming situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) following India's unilateral and illegal measures in the occupied territory on this day in 2019.
The letter addressed to the Secretary-General of the OIC Hissein Brahim Taha briefed him that these measures ensued in additional unlawful actions including illegal demographic changes and grave atrocities including incarceration of Kashmiri leadership, extra judicial killings, enforced disappearances, arbitrary detentions and staged 'cordon-and-search' operations.
He noted that India's actions are in blatant violation of international law, including relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council as well as the OIC resolutions.
Appreciating the consistent and principled position of the OIC in support of the just struggle of Kashmiri people, the Foreign Minister called upon the OIC to lead the diplomatic effort for finding a lasting solution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UNSC and OIC Resolutions.
Highlighting the Resolution on Kashmir dispute adopted by the 48th Session of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Islamabad this year, the Foreign Minister urged the Secretary General to honor the history of countless sacrifices and efforts of the Kashmiri people by taking further steps from the OIC platform to address their humanitarian needs and seek access to the occupied territory for an OIC fact-finding mission.
