The United Nations has called for permanent ceasefire and humanitarian supplies in besieged Gaza enclave.

In a statement on X, the head of United Nations Relief and Works Agency, Philippe Lazzarini expressed satisfaction over the ongoing polio vaccination campaign in central Gaza.

However, he said permanent ceasefire is needed to end human sufferings.

Gaza has around 2.3 million people and is one of the world's most densely populated places.
