APHC pays glowing tributes to victims of Sopore massacre
January 06, 2025

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the APHC while paying glowing tributes to victims of Sopore massacre has urged international human rights organizations to intervene and hold India accountable for its war crimes in occupied territory.

In a statement in Srinagar today, the APHC leaders, including Mohammad Khan Sopori, Saleem Zargar and others have said that Sopore massacre exemplifies India’s brutal military operations in IIOJK.

They said that victim families of harrowing Sopore massacre continue to await justice even after 32 long years, as gruesome tragedy remains a stark reminder of Indian forces' brutality in territory.

On this day in 1993, Indian Border Security Force personnel unleashed terror in Sopore town, killing over 50 civilians, looting valuables and setting ablaze the main business area.

The troops then sprinkled gunpowder, petrol, and kerosene on nearby buildings, torching over 400 shops and structures, including 75 residential houses in localities such as Arampora, Muslimpeer and Kralteng in the town.
