‘Govt made tough decisions to provide relief to people’
April 06, 2025

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said recent decrease in power tariffs reflects government's commitment to taking practical measures to provide relief to masses rather than relying on mere sloganeering.

Addressing a public gathering in Lahore on Sunday, he said the government derives its real strength from the people. He added that with public support, the government made tough and right decisions to successfully provide relief to the people and stabilize the economy.

The Minister recalled that the country was facing multiple challenges when the PML-N took over the government. He said that some elements had put the country's interests at stake for their own vested political objectives. He added the people of Pakistan are well aware of those elements who wrote letters to jeopardize the IMF programme.

Attaullah Tarar said at that critical time, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif raised the slogan of prioritizing state interests over politics. He said they did not care for their political capital and instead focused on protecting the country's interests. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif accepted the responsibility to serve the country under the leadership of PML-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

Attaullah Tarar said the government's consistent efforts have led to slashing electricity prices and bringing down inflation to a single-digit. He highlighted that the stock market is booming and that global financial and rating agencies are acknowledging Pakistan's performance on the economic front.

The Minister expressed the government's resolve to continue its efforts with same zeal to make Pakistan a great country.
