Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb says the acquittal of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Plot Allotment Reference case by the Accountability Court Lahore is victory of the people of Pakistan.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad this afternoon, she said it has been clearly mentioned in the verdict that there is no misuse of authority, corruption, elements of kickbacks in the process of allotment of plots in 1990s when Nawaz Sharif was the Chief Minister of Punjab.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said that former Prime Minister did not give any favour to Jang Group' owner Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman in allotment of plots and today's judgment is a testimony in this regard.
She said in fact the NAB was forced to made reference against Nawaz Sharif by the previous government to fulfill its nefarious agenda of political victimization.
The Minister said the nexus of PTI Chief and NAB left detrimental impacts on the judicial system of Pakistan as the core mission of their connivance is only political vendetta.
Strongly criticizing the previous government of PTI, she said despicable tactics were used to curtail the media freedom during last four years.
She said the removal of Nawaz Sharif from power was a setback for the speedy economic growth of country as both load shedding and terrorism gained momentum during PTI regime.
The Minister also expressed condemnation over the incident of desecration of Holy Quran in Sweden and said the government will raise this issue in every forum.
