Brig. (Retd.) Said Nazir (Defense Analyst): The tribal and FATA areas were merged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and an annual budget of 100 billion rupees was allocated for the development of these areas. But unfortunately, the funds were not provided on time and some projects hit a snag. Pakistan Army established the writ of the government in these areas. The present government put an end to the decades-long deprivation of these areas and the projects related to education, health and other socioeconomic development were started. Pakistan Army is actively taking part in development of merged districts and has played a key role in completion of many projects for the benefit of local population.
