Former Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, China and the United Nations Sardar Masood Khan says India's unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 violated the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and could not alter the internationally recognized disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.
He stated this while addressing different gatherings at the Institute of Policy Research Islamabad (IPRI), the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS), and Foundation University in Islamabad.
Ambassador Masood Khan observed that the abrogation of Article 370 and related constitutional changes had further eroded the political and legal rights of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, while demographic engineering, electoral restructuring and restrictive laws had fundamentally altered the region's political landscape.
Reviewing Pakistan's diplomatic efforts, he noted that Islamabad has consistently raised the Kashmir dispute at the United Nations Security Council, the Human Rights Council and other international forums, thereby preventing the issue from disappearing from global attention.
