President Dr Arif Alvi says climate change and global warming have accelerated glacial melting, particularly affecting Gilgit Baltistan region.

He expressed these views during a meeting with Governor Gilgit Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah who called on him in Islamabad.

The President said recent floods have badly affected the country.

During the meeting, they discussed the overall situation in the country and the flood situation in Gilgit Baltistan.

The President observed that there exist huge potential in tourism and mineral sectors of Gilgit Baltistan which need to be fully explored.
