September 06, 2026

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif says the sacrifices of the martyrs are the sacred trust upon which Pakistan's freedom, sovereignty and security stand.

In a post on X in connection with Defence and Martyrs' Day, the Prime Minister paid rich tribute to the immortal courage of Pakistan's martyrs, the valour of its veterans and the unwavering resolve of their families.

He said that from the battlefields of 1965 to the resounding success of Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, the Armed Forces have demonstrated that the spirit of September 6 remains undiminished.

The Prime Minister said the entire nation stands with immense pride behind the brave sons and daughters of the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy.

Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed that Pakistan desires peace, but its commitment to peace must never be mistaken for weakness.

He said Pakistan possesses both the will and capability to defend every inch of its homeland and decisively defeat terrorism and aggression in all their forms.

The Prime Minister called upon the nation to honour the martyrs by building a Pakistan that is united, peaceful and economically strong, and remains faithful to the Quaid's principles of Faith, Unity and Discipline.

He also prayed the Almighty to elevate the ranks of the martyrs and forever protect the beloved homeland.
