Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over are observing the Jammu Martyrs’ Day on Friday, with renewed pledge to thwart Indian machinations and to continue the martyrs’ mission till the realization of their inalienable right to self-determination.
According to Kashmir Media Service, hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris were massacred by the forces of Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian army and Hindu extremists in different parts of Jammu region while they were migrating to Pakistan during the first week of November in 1947.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference and other Hurriyat leaders and organizations in their separate statements hailed the great sacrifices of the martyrs.
APHC spokesman in a statement in Srinagar termed the 6th November 1947 tragedy as the worst kind of genocide in human history.
He appealed people to arrange prayer meetings in their respective localities and pay tributes to those innocent Muslims who were brutally murdered, regardless of age and gender, by goons associated with various Hindu communal and fascist forces.
The spokesman said that under a well-planned strategy, thousands of Muslims were taken away from their locations and killed in cold blood and several Muslim women were raped and molested.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the day was dawned with special prayers for the martyrs of Kashmir liberation struggle, early liberation of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and integrity and prosperity of Pakistan.
Quran Khawani and Fateha Khawani is being held at various places for the souls of martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir.
It is a public holiday in Azad Jammu and Kashmir today.
Public meetings and seminars will be held all over the state to pay homage to the martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Islam and Pakistan.
In his message on the Jammu Massacre Day today, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says Pakistan will not relent in its support until the Kashmiris realize their legitimate right to self-determination in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
He said November 6 marks the darkest day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir as 237, 000 Muslims were martyred in genocide 73 years ago.
The Foreign Minister said India's illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 are a sad continuation of the murderous intent of the Jammu massacre since they are also aimed at reducing the Muslim majority of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir into a minority.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said during the past 7 decades, Indian occupation forces have tried every possible tool of oppression and violated every single right of the Kashmiri people. Today, IIOJK is faced with the gravest humanitarian crisis anywhere in the world.
Foreign Minister urged the international community to take urgent steps to help address the grave humanitarian situation in IIOJK and urge India to comply with its international obligations with regard to the rights of Kashmiri people.
