The forty-third death anniversary of first Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Abdul Rashid is being observed on Wednesday.
He was born in 1889 in Baghbanpura, Lahore and studied at Forman Christian College and Christ's College, Cambridge.
He served as an acting Judge at Lahore High Court, Advocate of Government of Punjab, Judge of Lahore High Court and Chief Justice of Pakistan.
On 15 August 1947, when Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was sworn in as the first Governor-General of Pakistan, Mian Abdul Rashid, as the most senior Muslim judge, administered oath of office to him.
He died on this day in 1981.
