At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for urgent action to mitigate adverse effects of climate change.

Acting permanent representative of Pakistan to the UN, Ambassador Muhammad Usman Iqbal Jadoon told General Assembly that declining state of marine health, impacting livelihoods of billions of individuals worldwide.

He said oceans are under immense pressure, grappling with a multitude of serious threats.

He said Pakistan is fully committed to conservation and sustainable use of oceans.
