Senate passes resolution recommending Govt to explore Rain Water Harvest System

The Senate on Monday passed a resolution recommending the government explore alternate methods including Rain Water Harvest System on priority and further take necessary steps to bridge the gap between growing demand and supply of water in Islamabad.

The resolution moved by Seemee Ezdi expressed deep concern over the poor water distribution and management system, scarcity of potable water and depleting supply capacity of Simly Dam and Khanpur Dam causing severe hardships to residents of Islamabad.

The House also passed another resolution moved by Shahadat Awan recommending that each Ministry and Division of the government shall immediately publish their respective updated Laws, Rules and Regulations on their websites and in case of any amendment, update and public the same for the use of general public.

The Senate today passed three bills.

These include “The Guardians and Wards (Amendment) Bill, 2020”, The Control of Narcotic Substances (Amendment) Bill, 2022” and “The Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

Several bills were introduced in the House. These include “The Prevention and Rehabilitation of Vagrants Bill, 2022”, “The Public Finance Management (Amendment) Bill, 2022”, “The China Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2022”, “The Right to Free and Compulsory Education (Amendment) Bill, 2022”, “The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2022”, “The Public Private Partnership Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2022” and “The Special Technology Zones Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2022.”

The chair referred the bills to the concerned standing committees of the House.

The House is transacting private members’ business today (Monday).

At the outset, the House offered fateha for the departed soul of the grandmother of Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, martyred security officials, and others.

The Opposition benches pointed out lack of quorum when Senator Faisal Javed was speaking on a motion moved by Senator Mushtaq Ahmed regarding rapidly developing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and Pakistan’s role of regional peace and security and to avert humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

On counting, the House was not in order upon which the Chair adjourned the House till 10 am on Tuesday.
