Afghanistan visit to help overcome trust deficit b/w two countries: PM Abbasi

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says his recent visit to Afghanistan would prove to be a milestone for the bilateral ties and regional peace as it has helped overcome the trust deficit to a great extent.

He was talking to media-persons in Kharan, after inaugurating Khuzdar-Shahdadkot road and launching work on Kharan-Yakmach road.

The prime minister said during his meetings with the Afghan leadership including President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and Hezb-i-Islami Afghanistan Chief Gulbadin Hekmatyar, it was agreed that there could be no military solution to the Afghan issue.

He said it was also agreed that both the countires should work jointly for peace and stability in the region.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the Afghan stakeholders must find out a solution to the issue and Pakistan will extend its all out support to restore peace in Afghanistan.

He said it has also been decided to continue working on connectivity projects like roads, rail and power transmission, besides discussing water issues. Work on the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India Pipeline) project is already underway.

The prime minister said both the sides have agreed to jointly work on projects meant for prosperity of the people in the region.

Addressing a public gathering after inaugurating Khuzdar-Shahdadkot road and launching  work on Kharan-Yakmach road in Quetta on Saturday, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said the recently announced 'revolutionary tax reforms' will bring in record resources to the national economy and lead the country to self-dependence.

He said those criticizing the initiative should first make public their last year’s tax details.

The Prime Minister said the tax reforms would make the people join course of national development by paying taxes and proving their patriotism.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said there is no room for criticism of the reforms and questioned why they are criticizing reduction of tax rates.

Prime Minister said peace has been restored across Pakistan as a result sacrifices rendered by the people and the security forces.

He said the PML (N) government has spread a network of roads in Balochistan, which will usher in a new era of development in the province. He said the development of the province is top priority of PML-N government.

Khuzdar-Shahdadkot road is part of M-8, the Gwadar-Ratodero Motorway, which connects country's eastern and western regions.

Highlighting the rich mineral resources of Balochistan, the Prime Minister said the province has the potential to become the richest federating unit in a matter of few years.

On this occasion, Prime Minister announced the construction of Nokundi-Mashkail and Kharan- Basima roads.

He said the initiative will help generate sufficient resources in order to end dependence on others.

He said that work is underway for establishing "LPG Air Mix" plants in all district headquarters of the province to provide inexpensive domestic fuel to the people.

Prime Minister said that Health Card scheme would soon be started in Kharan district.
