In Yemen, President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi has handed over his powers to a newly established presidential leadership council and relieved the vice president of his duties.

According to a statement issued today [Thursday], the new council, which will be headed by Rashad Al-Alimi, would temporarily be in charge of Yemen’s political, military, and security sectors during the transition period.

Yemni president has also relieved Vice President Ali Mohsen Al-Ahmar from his post.

The council would issue an immediate state of emergency in the country.
