Legendary actor Dilip Kumar passes away

One of the greatest actors in Asia, Muhammad Yousaf Khan, popularly known as Dilip Kumar passed away today at the age of 98.

Nicknamed “The Tragedy King”, Kumar played the lead in some of the Indian film industry's most commercially successful films of the period, earning him iconic status.

Among his most remembered roles was in the historical romance Mughal-e-Azam, based on the life of one of the sub continent's great Mughal princes.

Dilip Kumar was born on December 11, 1922, in Pakistan’s Peshawar city. His screen name was suggested by Devika Rani, who cast him in his first movie Jwar Bhata in 1944.

He was also conferred with ‘Nishan e Pakistan’ by the Pakistan government in 1998.

President Dr. Arif Alvi has expressed grief and sorrow over the death of renowned subcontinent actor Muhammad Yousaf Khan popularly known as Dilip Kumar.

In a Tweet, the President said he was an outstanding actor, a humble man and a dignified personality.

Dr Arif Alvi also prayed for the departed soul of Yusuf Khan.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of one of the greatest actors in Asia, Muhammad Yousaf Khan.

In his condolence message on Twitter, the Prime Minister said he can never forget his generosity in giving time to help raise funds for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital at the time of launch of the project.

The Prime Minister said Dilip Kumar was the greatest and most versatile actor.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Hussain Chaudhary has termed the death of Dilip Kumar, a huge loss.

Expressing deep grief and sorrow on Twitter over the demise of Yousaf Khan, the information minister said that he was an iconic hero.

Meanwhile, Chairman Senate Standing committee on Information and Broadcasting Senator Faisal Javed Khan also condoled the death of Yusuf Khan.
