National Highway Authority has introduced a new, effective, transparent and proactive policy on awarding contracts to construction companies.

According to a press release of NHA, under this policy contractors will be pre-qualified based on the highest quality and best performance of the projects.

The contractor will be required to provide a bank guarantee instead of an insurance guarantee.

In the new system, the ratio of technical skills and financial status will be 80 percent to 30 percent instead of 70 to 30.

Chairman NHA Muhammad Khurram Agha said according to the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, these measures are aimed at eliminating delays in construction projects and ensuring their timely completion with high standards.
