
The 17th death anniversary of renowned Urdu and Hindko poet and writer, Khatir Ghaznavi, was observed on Monday.
The real name of Khatir Ghaznavi was Muhammad Ibrahim Baig and he was born in 1925 in Peshawar.
Khatir Ghaznavi started his career from Radio Pakistan Peshawar. He also remained associated with two literary journals, "Sang-e-meel" and "Ehsaas". In 1984, he was appointed Director General of the Pakistan Academy of Letters.
The government of Pakistan awarded him the Presidential Pride of Performance award in 1999 in recognition of his literary contributions.
Khatir Ghaznavi died on this day in 2008.
