National Voters’ Day is being observed across the country on Monday, to create awareness about importance of registration as voter.

The Day is observed in commemoration of first general elections held in Pakistan on 7th December, 1970.

The primary purpose of the day is to create awareness among general public about the importance of vote and inclusion of all segments of the society in electoral process.

Election Commissioner Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sharifullah has said the Election Commission is in closed liaison with NADRA for the registration of women voters in the province.

Addressing a function in connection with National Voters Day in Peshawar today, Election Commissioner Khyber Pakhtunkhwa asked the civil society to joint hands with election commission by registration of their votes to fulfill their national responsibility.

Sharifullah said the election commission is holding seminars, workshops to educate public about importance of vote.

The Election Commissioner lauded the role of media for raising awareness about vote.
