Pakistan, Azerbaijan agree to further promote bilateral cooperation

Pakistan and Azerbaijan have agreed to further promote bilateral cooperation in diverse fields.

The understanding was reached during meeting between Azerbaijan's Minister for Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday.              

The fields in which both sides focused on cooperation include minerals and mining, oil exploration, renewable energy, information technology, regional connectivity, defense, hospitality, tourism and human resource development.               

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while reviewing the implementation of MoUs and agreements signed  during his recent visit to Azerbaijan, invited Azerbaijani investors to benefit from the vast investment opportunities in oil exploration, minerals and mining, renewable energy and infrastructure in Pakistan.             

The Prime Minister also appreciated the Azerbaijani team for the renovation measures in Islamabad after Islamabad and Baku were declared twin cities.              

The Prime Minister welcomed the commitment at higher level in both countries to increase the bilateral trade volume to 2 billion dollars.                                           

The Azerbaijani Minister expressed Azerbaijan's deep interest in cooperation and promotion of trade with Pakistan in various sectors.

He expressed satisfaction over the progress made in renewable energy, white oil pipeline, investment in Pakistan, and Azerbaijan's investment in Pakistan's infrastructure. 

The meeting was informed about the delegation's meetings in Pakistan, cooperation in various sectors and Azerbaijan's investment in motorways for regional connectivity in Pakistan.
