PIA to record 1st net profit in over 20 years

Pakistan International Airlines is set to record its first net profit in over twenty years, following a process of restructuring and reforms.

A report carried out by 'Khaleej Times' said the national flag carrier resumed its flagship European operations after a four-year ban and achieved an impressive twelve percent operating margin.

It said the financial costs were also reduced from 79.42 billion rupees in 2023 to just 10.06 billion rupees in the year 2024.

Under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer PIA Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Amir Hayat, the airline focused on operational profitability, cost-cutting, fleet optimization, and digital transformation.

Similarly, with the commencement of privatization in 2024, the national flag carrier was restructured into two entities, improving financial health.

Commenting on the development, Chief Executive Officer PIA Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Amir Hayat viewed the year 2024 as a pivotal year for PIA, focusing on sustainable profitability and improved customer service.

He said the airline significantly improved on-time performance, optimized route profitability and enhanced customer service.
