Sindh CM calls for modernizing agriculture sector
July 08, 2024

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has called for modernizing the agriculture sector to uplift the rural population of the province.

He was presiding over a meeting of various departments in Karachi today.

Syed Murad Ali Shah said the agriculture economy was severely impacted by the flash floods caused by the rains in 2022.

He said steps are being taken to revive approximately 4.4 million acres of affected land, as the agriculture sector provides employment to 70 percent of the province's population.

The Chief Minister directed the agriculture department to make its research wing more active and emphasized that Sindh Agriculture University in Tando Jam should also enhance its research capabilities.

He directed that street animals should be treated properly in veterinary hospitals across the province, ensuring availability of necessary facilities and medicines.
