13th anniversary of October 8 earthquake observed

The 13th anniversary of martyrs of deadly earthquake of October 8, 2005 was observed across Pakistan including Azad Jammu and Kashmir as National Resilience Day.

 Special prayers were offered in the mosques at Fajr for the departed souls. Prayers were also offered for progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, main Prayer Ceremony was held at Muzaffarabad this morning.

AJK Ministers Barrister Iftikhar Gilani thanked government of Pakistan, Pak Army and people for prompt response and active part in relief and rehabilitation activities soon after the devastating earthquake 2005.

PESHAWAR

A function in connection with anniversary of the devastating earthquake of 8th October 2005 was held in Peshawar on Monday.

The speakers paid homage to those who were martyred and injured in the earthquake.   

According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa more than seventy-three thousand people lost their lives and one hundred and twenty eight thousand others were injured in the quake measuring 7.6 on Richter scale.

The earthquake demolished over six hundred thousand houses, more than six thousand educational institutions, health units and government buildings.
