In Syria, Interim President Ahmed Sharaa has called for peace after hundreds killed in coastal areas.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a British-based war monitor, said today that more than 1,000 people have been killed in the two days of fighting in the Mediterranean coastal region.
