The Christian community in Pakistan as well as around the around the world is celebrating Easter on Sunday.

In Pakistan, the Christian community is participating in special prayers and events to celebrate the festival with religious enthusiasm.

Tight security measures have been put place outside churches.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Christian community is celebrating Easter with religious zeal and fervor.

Special prayer ceremony was held at Saint Johns Cathedral Church in Peshawar on Sunday.

Bishop of Peshawar Humphrey Sarfaraz Peters offered prayer and services in the Church.

Speaking on the occasion, Humphrey Sarfaraz Peters stressed the need for promotion of unity and harmony in the society.

He said the minority communities are enjoining complete rights and freedom of worship in the country.

Tight security measures have been taken to ensure a peaceful atmosphere across the province.

 In their felicitation message to the Christian community on the occasion of their Easter day, Sindh Chief Minister and Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have expressed commitment for welfare and protection of rights of minorities.

They said that the nation values the important and active role Christian community has always played for the development of the country.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said all the minority communities have their equal rights in Sindh as our religion Islam teaches us to give the equal rights to the minority community.

Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan said the provincial government is taking solid steps for welfare and protection of rights of minorities. 

Like elsewhere in the country, the Christian community is celebrating their religious festival Easter all over the province including the provincial metropolis Quetta.

In this connection, special services were held at almost all the churches in the province.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo greeted the Christian community on the eve of Easter.

In his felicitation message, he said that the Christian community is an important part of our society and they are stakeholders in the progress and prosperity of the country. (H Farooq Quetta Station. )
