United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has rejected fresh Israeli proposal to control aid deliveries into besieged Gaza.
Speaking about the dire humanitarian situation unfolding in the besieged Gaza Strip in New York, he said we will not participate in any arrangement that does not fully respect the humanitarian principles - humanity, impartiality, independence and neutrality.
The UN Secretary General said civilians are in an endless death loop and new suggestion by Israel will risk further controlling and callously limiting aid down to the last calorie and grain of flour.
He said no aid has been delivered to the besieged enclave of 2.3 million people since March 2 as Israel continues to seal vital border crossings, barring the entry of everything from food to medical supplies and fuel.
Antonio Guterres expressed his alarm that more than a month has passed without a drop of aid into Gaza. There is no food, no fuel, no medicine, and no commercial supplies.
The UN Secretary General once again called for immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, a permanent ceasefire, and unimpeded humanitarian access must be guaranteed.
He further demanded that humanitarian personnel must be given the protection that they are accorded under international law. The inviolability of United Nations premises and assets must be respected.
Antonio Guterres once again called for an independent investigation into the killing of humanitarian workers including the UN personnel in Gaza.
