A two member bench of the Surpeme Court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar today dismissed the petitions filed by Sardar Abbass, an independent candidate from NA-64 Chakwal and Sardar Abbass Akbar, a PTI candidate from PP 23 against the lahore high court's decision of disqualifying them from contesting the elections.

Pleas of some other candidates including an independent candidate Diwan Ashiq and Syed Muhammad Basharat seeking permission to contest the elections were also rejected by the apex court on various grounds.
