Dr Arif Alvi sworn in as 13th President of Pakistan

Dr Arif-ur-Rehman Alvi took oath as 13th President of Pakistan at a graceful ceremony in Islamabad today.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar administered the oath to him. 

Prime Minister Imran Khan, outgoing President Mamnoon Hussain, Chairman Senate, Speaker National Assembly, federal ministers, governors, provincial chief ministers, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Statff committee, the three services chiefs, Saudi Information Minister Awwad Bin Saleh Al-Awwad, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, ambassadors, diplomats, and senior officials attended the oath taking ceremony.

The term of outgoing President Mamnoon Hussain had ended yesterday.

Senior political leaders have described the completion of democratic transition of power, after Dr. Alvi was administered oath of office today, as historic.

They were recording their impressions exclusively to Radio Pakistan on the occasion of oath-taking ceremony of the President at Aiwan-e-Sadr today.

They expressed hope that the government will now be focusing on the challenges facing the country after completion of the transition of power process.

President Azad Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan described completion of transition of power as good omen for the country. He said president has a constructive role to play in progress of the country.

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar said people belonging to middle class are coming to power, which is a real change in the country.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar told Radio Pakistan that PTI government has started implementation of its 100-day plan, which will be materialized at every cost.

Chairman Senate Standing Committee Senator Faisal Javed said the government is implementing its agenda on fast-track basis.

Acknowledging Dr. Arif Alvi's struggle for justice in the country for twenty-two years, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri said it is a welcome development that a person from middle class took oath as president of the country. Speaker Balochistan Assembly Abdul Quddus Bizenjo said federation is being strengthened in the country, which will help progress in the country. In their impressions, former Senate Chairman Muhammad Mian Somoro, PTI leader Usman Dar and eminent singer Atif Aslam expressed the hope that fruits of change in the country will soon reach people.
